7 Months

This past month has flown by! Asante turned 7 months on the 2nd of March, so I'm a little late posting about it.  I guess I've been busy enjoying him instead.  This has been my favorite age so far! I of course have loved every single age, but he is so much fun right now.  He sits up completely on his own, and rolls over both ways now.  He is so close to crawling, just a few more days and we won't be able to stop him! February was a busy month, and with it being a short month, it felt even faster.  We went to Kansas the 9th through the 12, and had a blast.  The pictures with Angela turned out so great. (I will have another post with some of my favorites) Asante also got his first tooth this month, Feb. 26th.  He had been working on it for a while, and it finally came all the way through.  Teething was pretty easy, just a lot of drool.  His smile is so stinking cute with just one tooth.  The best thing right now is that he gets happy every time he see us.  When I pick him up from daycare, no matter where he is or what he is doing, he starts smiling as soon as he see me.  It melts my heart; I just can't get enough of that smile! He is exploring everything and loves picking things up, and of course trying to eat them.  His new favorite toy is one he got for Christmas from Gran.  It is a box with shape cutouts and shape blocks you put through the holes.  It also plays music, and he loves that.  He hasn't figured out the shapes yet, so he usually just puts them in the top and shakes them around so the music plays.  It is such a blast to watch him learn and figure things out on his own.  Every time I sit down with him to play I am overwhelmed by how much of a blessing he is.  I cannot imagine life without my little man!!

Second Trip to Kansas

We took our second trip with Asante February 9th through the 12th.  Asante is such a pro at flying, he was amazing!  It was a great trip! Asante did so much better this time, and no one got sick :-) We got in Saturday morning and Gran picked us up from the airport.  We went to get our rental car before going to breakfast with some of my family.  After breakfast we went to Mimi and Papa's house so Asante could take a nap before Hallie's 5th birthday party.  She didn't know we were coming, so it was fun to see how excited she was to see Baby Asante.  We also surprised her by bring my cousin's pony for pony rides.  After the party we met up with Grammy, TiTi, Uncle Justin and Baby River for dinner.  It was the first time we met River, and we couldn't get enough! Even though they are just a little over 4 months apart, its hard to imagine Asante was that small, smaller in fact!  Sunday was a very busy day! We went to brunch at Uncle Matt and Aunt Thu's house, and were able to spend some really great time with all of my family! After Asante's very long nap in Cousin Leah's room we went to Aunt Lizzie and Uncle Ryan's house to have dinner with the Aunties: Kirsten, Lizzie, Jenna, and Kaleigh, as well as Uncle Drew and Uncle Ryan.  Monday morning we just relaxed, which was nice.  We picked up Grammy from the airport in the afternoon, before having Asante's 6 month photos taken.  It was so much fun to have everyone there, and we even got some cute pictures of Asante and River.  We headed home Tuesday afternoon.  It was so great to be able to spend time with everyone, but it was WAY too short!  There are a few people Asante still hasn't met, and I hate that! Next time we go he will be over a year old, and hopefully we can stay a lot longer so we can have time for everyone!
Ready for take off!

6 Months

I cannot believe Asante is already 6 months!! He is such a big boy; it is so much fun to watch him learn and grown every single day! Asante is rolling over from front to back, and sitting up on his own now.  He is also making efforts to crawl!! He gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth then pushes himself backwards.  He loves it and you can tell how proud he is by his cute little smile and laugh. We have increased his food to 3 times a day, and he is still taking around 3 bottles a day.  We are on stage 2 baby food, which is combinations.... and MEAT! So far he has had chicken, and liked it a lot. Asante has also started to feed himself! We give him banana flavored crackers called MumMums, and he usually eats the whole thing all by himself.  He is such a good eater :-) We haven't seen any teeth yet, but you can feel the little bumps. Any day now one will break through! He has really started to reach out for things, especially peoples faces! He loves to touch your mouth while you talk, and of course pull hair!  His two middle fingers are still his favorite, we might have to do something about that soon, but it is so cute!!  His 6 month check up was Tuesday, 2/5/13.  He weighed 16.11 pounds and is 26 inches.  He is in the 25-50% for weight and head size, and in the 15-25% for height.  Dr. Cosgrove is happy with his growth and development.  He got three shots, and took them like a champ! Only a little crying and then was good to go... such a tough guy! We are heading to Kansas for the second time on Saturday, and we are BEYOND excited!!

Rolly Polly

Asante has started to roll over for us to see. He first rolled over on November 26th in his crib, and did it again three more times, until the 15th. We were playing on the ground, and all of a sudden he started to try and roll over.  It took him a little bit, but he finally got it! Now every time we do tummy time he flips over; such a big boy :-)

Water Baby

Asante has always loved his baths, so we thought we would try out a big giant bath!  We took him to the pool on Satuurday (1/12/13). Plainfield has a great community center with an indoor water park. There is a lazy river, and big slide.  There is also an area for smaller kids with a zero-entry pool; that is where we hung out.  Asante did great!  He didn't really smile, but there were no tears either! He was so busy watch all the other kids playing :-) All in all, it was a successful first swim.

5 Months

Asante turned 5 months old yesterday! He is getting to be such a big boy; he weighs over 15lbs now :-) He is such a happy baby, and is so much fun.  His little personality is really starting to develop. He is so silly, just like his Daddy.  He is still sleeping in his crib through the night.  There are still some night that he might wake up, but usually falls back to sleep.  He is on a very good schedule.  I wake him up around 6:30 on work days, but he doesn't wake up on his own until 7:30 or 8am on the weekends.  He takes two naps during the day, and drinks around 3 bottles.  Then he is ready for bed around 8:30pm.  He has also started eating solid food twice a day; once at lunch and once for dinner.  We have done bananas, avocado, sweet potatoes, squash, peas and this week is carrots.  He didn't care much for the peas, again he is his Daddy's twin! The sweet potatoes have definitely been his favorite.  A few other new things are that he is starting to reach and grab for his toys, he is starting to try and sit up on his own, and since we got his little gym he is starting to stand up.  He is also teething.  He hasn't been very fussy, thankfully, but he does drool A LOT, and chews on his fingers and toys.  We haven't seen any teeth yet, but they will be here very soon!  He has rolled over three more times in bed, but never for us to see or get pictures of.  I think he is just too content on his stomach to actually roll over.  He is starting to get his knees under himself and push around in an effort to crawl, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet! It is truly amazing how much difference a month can make in a little guy.  He is such a blessing, and we are enjoying every second of him!!
