Rolly Polly

Asante has started to roll over for us to see. He first rolled over on November 26th in his crib, and did it again three more times, until the 15th. We were playing on the ground, and all of a sudden he started to try and roll over.  It took him a little bit, but he finally got it! Now every time we do tummy time he flips over; such a big boy :-)

Water Baby

Asante has always loved his baths, so we thought we would try out a big giant bath!  We took him to the pool on Satuurday (1/12/13). Plainfield has a great community center with an indoor water park. There is a lazy river, and big slide.  There is also an area for smaller kids with a zero-entry pool; that is where we hung out.  Asante did great!  He didn't really smile, but there were no tears either! He was so busy watch all the other kids playing :-) All in all, it was a successful first swim.

5 Months

Asante turned 5 months old yesterday! He is getting to be such a big boy; he weighs over 15lbs now :-) He is such a happy baby, and is so much fun.  His little personality is really starting to develop. He is so silly, just like his Daddy.  He is still sleeping in his crib through the night.  There are still some night that he might wake up, but usually falls back to sleep.  He is on a very good schedule.  I wake him up around 6:30 on work days, but he doesn't wake up on his own until 7:30 or 8am on the weekends.  He takes two naps during the day, and drinks around 3 bottles.  Then he is ready for bed around 8:30pm.  He has also started eating solid food twice a day; once at lunch and once for dinner.  We have done bananas, avocado, sweet potatoes, squash, peas and this week is carrots.  He didn't care much for the peas, again he is his Daddy's twin! The sweet potatoes have definitely been his favorite.  A few other new things are that he is starting to reach and grab for his toys, he is starting to try and sit up on his own, and since we got his little gym he is starting to stand up.  He is also teething.  He hasn't been very fussy, thankfully, but he does drool A LOT, and chews on his fingers and toys.  We haven't seen any teeth yet, but they will be here very soon!  He has rolled over three more times in bed, but never for us to see or get pictures of.  I think he is just too content on his stomach to actually roll over.  He is starting to get his knees under himself and push around in an effort to crawl, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet! It is truly amazing how much difference a month can make in a little guy.  He is such a blessing, and we are enjoying every second of him!!

First Christmas and New Years

Asante's first Christmas was wonderful! We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas as a family, just Amar, Asante, Koda and me.  It was so much fun to see little Asante "playing" with all his toys.  He doesn't really play yet, but he is starting to reach out for things, and loves looking at all the lights and listening to the music his toys make.  I had the whole week between Christmas and New Years off; it was great to be able to spend so much time with Asante.  Gran and Aunt Ang got in town on the 28th.  Asante has changed so much since they were here for Thanksgiving.  We spent a lot of time just enjoying each others company.  On the 30th we went bowling and to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner downtown to celebrate Andrea's birthday (she will be 20 on the 12th of January). Uncle Eric, and Aunt Kacy got in town on the 31st.  We were all so happy to see them; we haven't seen them since the end of August!! We spent New Year's eve at our house.  I made little snackies and everyone ate and drank their way into the new year.  We had family pictures taken on the 1st, thankfully JCPenny was open :-) After pictures Asante went down for a nap, and the rest of us opened presents.  Eric and Kacy had to fly back to Denver that evening.  I am back to work today, but Gran and Ang are staying here until the 3rd, so they get to spend the whole day with little man! Lucky :-)

Uncle Eric and Aunt Kacy gave us some surprising news while they were in town ..... They Got MARRIED! They went to Vegas over Christmas, and got married on Christmas Eve. We are so happy for them and are so excited to finally have Kacy in our family!

I didn't take that may photos while everyone was here, but here are a few.  I didn't get any with Uncle Eric and Aunt Kacy, which I very upset about!!

Christmas at the Zoo

The Indianapolis Zoo has Christmas at the Zoo every year.  They light the whole zoo up with Christmas lights, have Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Kids can make Christmas cookies, and write letters to Santa.  We went with the Tuckers on Sunday the 23rd.  It was very cold, but still so much fun! The only animals still on exhibit were the "cold" ones, like the polar bear and walrus.  They also have dolphins, penguins and sharks indoors, so we saw them too.  We waited in line to see Santa, and Mrs. Claus.  Asante did so well; he wasn't scared at all! After Santa's workshop we went to the dolphin show, where Trey and Sariah got to be junior trainers and help with the dolphins.  By this time Asante was knocked out.  We walked around for a little while, then went home.  It was a lot of fun, but I can't wait until next year so Asante can enjoy it also!

SNOW

We have had a lot of snow so far this winter, at least compared to last year! We bundled Asante up in his snow suit, a hand-me-down from Cousin Liam, and took him out in the snow.... he did not like it, so it didn't last long.  I think he was more upset that I put him down, than he was because of the snow! It has been a beautiful Christmas season, but now it's January, and I'm ready for the snow to melt :-)
