Summer Time, and the Living is Easy!

Summer is in full swing, and I am loving it. I love having extra time to get things done, and best of all Asante and I get to spend so much more time together! My first week of being unemployed was so busy! Wednesday I went to lunch with Katherine and it was great! I miss seeing her everyday so it was nice to get together. Now that we don't work together, we are actually able to go to lunch together!

Wednesday night Asante and I went to the Royal's game. The Royal's lost... no surprise, but the game was still really fun!

Thursday, Koda and I went out to the farm (my mom's house) She was having her horse shoed so Koda got some really good treats. He loves being able to run when he is there and I like that he gets worn out!
Enjoying his horse hoof :-)
Rolling around in the grass, he loves the summer too!

Friday I went to the pool with my Grandma, Mimi; my Aunt Annie and little cousin Liam. I was so nice to be in the sun and spend some time with my family. Liam is so stinking cute. He is 4 months old, and getting really fun!
We are going to have soooo much fun this summer!

Winds of Change

This last week begin a HUGE time of change for us. Thursday started all the movement, with me being laid-off. It was a huge shock, and I was very upset! I had worked at KTI for over 5 years, and even though it was not the best job, it was all I knew. The more I think about not working at KTI any more, the more I KNOW it was a huge blessing! God truly works in mysterious way. We are really looking forward to the new path He has put us on!

Being laid-off on Thursday enabled me to go to Manhattan for Andrea's orientation. She will be going to K-State next year, and we are SOOOO excited for her. If you don't know, Asante is a HUGE K-State fan! I'm sure we will be in Manhattan visiting as much as we can next year. We drove in Thursday night and stayed in a hotel because orientation started at 8am Friday.
The day started in the K-State Union, where all of the students had to sign in. As soon as they got their name tag and paperwork for the day, students went one way and parents/family went another.
My mom and I sitting in the first of the parent/family information sessions. We went to two others sessions before meeting back up with Andrea in the School of Agriculture. She will be in the Pre-Vet program next year. It was really fun to see where she would be having class and to meet some of the teachers and administrative professionals. After Andrea enrolled in class we went to the union for Lunch.
Ang eating in the union for the first time :-)

After lunch we looked around the union and picked up Andrea's student ID before we had to take her to Ford, one of the dorms on campus, the one I stayed at! She would be staying there for the weekend for Wildcat Warm-Up.
We picked her up Sunday afternoon. She seemed to have a great time and was very tired. It is going to be a great year and we are all VERY excited!!

Last Wedding of the Spring Season

Asante and I have been to four weddings this year, last weekend being the last. Lizzie's has been one of my best friends since the third grade and I could not be happier to see her marry the man of her dreams. Ryan and Lizzie started dating our senior year of High School, they are so great together! The wedding was beautiful and of course Lizzie was a gorgeous bride! We are so so excited for their new life together!

Here comes the Bride!

Family Get Away

Last week/weekend Asante and I went to Indiana to visit his family. We left late morning on Thursday. It was Asante and my first flight together, which was really fun. It was a very short flight so we got there around noon.
Asante and I on the first of many flights together :-)

It was nice that we got in early so we could relax a little bit....Asante really took advantage of it!

Thursday was Asante's Dad's birthday, so some of the family went to dinner at Texas Road House. He even got on the saddle!

Hergert Wedding

Last weekend was Asante's friend, Todd's wedding. Todd and his wife got married a little over a year ago, before he was deployed. However they were unable to have an actual wedding or reception. The events started with Dave and Busters Thursday night, and then a BBQ Friday at Todd's parents house. Saturday was the wedding at Fort Leavenworth and the reception followed at the Hilton by the airport. It was a very busy, but great weekend!
